About Physical Research Laboratory:

Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) is a self-governing institution. It was founded by Dr. Vikram A. Sarabhai in the year 1947. PRL located in the western part of the Ahmedabad city. The founder of this institute is regarded as the Father of Space program in India. The main campus of the institute was inaugurated by the first prime minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. PRL is a unit of the department of space, the government of India. It also provides astronomical instrumentation and data processing techniques. The major areas of research conducted at geosciences division are solid earth geochemistry, hydrology, aqueous geochemistry, aerosol chemistry, oceanography, and paleoceanography.
