The Reserve Bank of India Job Vacancies: RBI is a central banking institution of India which controls monetary policy for the nation. It was established on 1st April 1935 under the Government of India act. Initially, it was a private bank. Since 1949, it is fully owned by the Government of India.

Structure of RBI

The RBI is governed by a central board of directors. Directors of the board are appointed by the Government according to the act. The board includes ten non-official nominated directors from various fields and four directors from local boards, one each for the four zonal regions.

Each member is appointed for a period of four years. Each Member of RBI is selected by its recruitment Procedure.

The RBI is headed by a Governor. There are up to four Deputy Governors.

The RBI has four zonal offices: for North zone in Delhi, South zone in Chennai, East in Kolkata and West in Mumbai.

It has 19 regional offices and 10 sub-offices. There is four zonal training center at Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi.

All the office’s staffs are recruited by RBI Job committee.

College of Agricultural Banking and Reserve Bank of India Staff College are part of the Reserve Bank. The other three autonomous establishments are National Institute for Bank Management, Indira Gandhi Institute for Development Research (IGIDR) and Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT).

Main Functions of RBI

  • The monetary policy of India is formulated, implemented and monitored by the RBI.
  • It ensures that price remains stable and adequate flow of credit to productive sectors is maintained.
  • As a regulator and supervisor of the financial system, RBI sets parameters of banking and financial operations.
  • In order to manage foreign exchange, it facilitates external trade and payment.
  • It issues currency for the country in order to provide the public adequate quantity of supplies of currency notes and coins.
  • It performs many promotional functions that support national objectives.
  • It acts as a banker to the government and banker to the banks. It lends to the commercial banks to help them meet depositors’ demands and reserve requirements for the long term. RBI charges the banks interest for this and it is called bank rate or repo rate. If the RBI wants to increase the liquidity and money supply in the market, it reduces the bank rate and in order to reduce the liquidity and money supply, it increases the bank rate.

The RBI is active in promoting financial inclusion policy and its decisions are one of the key factors in determining the economy of India.

Candidate needs to first appear in the Preliminary Examination consist of two papers that are objective type. Then after clearing the preliminary exam, the candidate will face the main exam of five papers containing 200 marks each that are subjective type.

Finally, a candidate will call for Personality test or say personal interview of 100 marks after clearing the main exam successfully. The final selection will be based on the marks obtained in Main exam plus interview together. These Exams are conducted for GPSC OJAS Jobs & Recruitments.

Eligibility Criteria for GPSC Exams:

Having Degree/Graduation in any discipline from recognized University can apply for these Exams. Even the candidate who is going for final year exams is also eligible for the GPSC exam. Because as we know these exams are for GPSC Recruitments for various departments.

A number of Attempts and Age Limit:

The age limit for the candidate to apply for GPSC exams is from 21 – 28 years. However, there is relaxation for 5 years in age for SC and ST category candidates. UPSC Examination Pattern:

There are two phases of UPSC examinations consist of the preliminary round followed by the mains. The Preliminary exam consists of the objective type of questions which test a candidate on two papers, General Studies, and Aptitude. Civil Services Mains examination being a subjective paper assesses a candidate through nine papers and an interview.

The entire process for UPSC exam from the notification of the Preliminary examination test dates to the declaration of the UPSC results takes almost a year. Based on this Examination process all the eligible candidates can apply for UPSC Recruitments and jobs.

Eligibility, Age Limit and Number of attempts:

Candidates must be graduates or above. Also, the candidates who are about to appear for their final graduation exams are also eligible to appear for this examination.

For open category candidates, the maximum number of attempts permitted is six. OBC candidates have nine attempts permitted. There is no limit on the number of attempts for SC, ST candidates.

If we talk about the age limit then the minimum age limit for candidates is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 32 years. However, the upper age limit is further relaxed by 5 years and 3 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST and OBC categories respectively. All these criteria are for UPSC Recruitments and for Vacancies in different departments.
