Yes, it is very unfortunate to say that in India there are still many areas of different states where people are not getting even primary health services. However central government, as well as the state government, is taking necessary steps so that such people of the rural area can at least able to get primary health services.

In fact, the central government has taken the important step by starting the initiative like National Rural Health Mission. This is the subject about what we are going to discuss here. About National Rural Health Mission:

National Rural Health Mission is also known with abbreviated name NRHM. As the name of the mission suggest itself that the initiative is all about health services in rural areas of India. On 12th April 2005, NRHM was launched by the prime minister of India. Basically, it is a project started by the government of India to deal with the health requirements of under-served rural areas. Primarily NRHM was tasked with addressing the health needs of 18 states having feeble public health indicators. These 18 States are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Orissa, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttaranchal and Uttar Pradesh.

The only aim of NRHM is to improve the accessibility of and access to quality health care by people, particularly for those residing in rural areas, the poor, women and children. And to complete this aim they are recruiting best staff by National Health Mission Recruitment committee. They also adopt an approach by relating health to determinants of good health like segments of nutrition, sanitation, hygiene and safe drinking water.

NHM aims to start architectural improvement of the health system to allow it to efficiently handle increased allocations and promote policies that make stronger public health management and service delivery in the country. Now let’s take a look at goals of NRHM here below.
