Just you want to be a professor in any university, you can easily do this and do you really think so? No, it is not as easy. Becoming a professor or lecturer or researcher is not easy. One need to pass some test and exam levels to achieve this goal. Here we use the word test, what type of test is this? Then let us tell you it is a National Eligibility Test that generally referred to as NET. This NET is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on behalf of University Grant Commission that known as UGC generally. About UGC:

A constitutional body that set up by the Indian Union government is known as the University Grant Commission (UGC). It was formed in the year 1956 under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. It was firmed to upholding standards of higher education. UGC pays funds to such recognized universities and colleges in India. Head office of UGC is situated in New Delhi. However there are six regional offices are also operating by UGC in Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bangalore. Name of the current chairman of UGC is Mr. Ved Prakash. About NET:

NET is National Eligibility Test held for postgraduate candidates who are looking for admission in Ph.D. research or university level teaching jobs. In NET, humanities and art regulation manage by UGC while science and engineering regulation manage by CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research).

UGC NET exam is conducted by the National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission. This test set up the eligibility of the candidate for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and lectureship. The purpose of the NET is to reach minimum standards in research and the profession of teaching. UGC Conducts examination for various subjects including English, Telugu, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Law, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Philosophy, History, Sociology, Education, Commerce, Continuing Education, Non Formal Education, Physical Education, Indian Culture, Labor Welfare, Industrial Relations, Personnel Management, Labor and Social Welfare, Human Resource management and many more. Eligibility criteria for UGC NET:

  • The candidate must be an Indian.
  • The candidate must be a graduate/postgraduate or hold a degree in B.Tech/BE/Integrated BS-MS/MBBS/MSC/ Ph.D. from a recognized university/institution.
  • The minimum score of 55% in the final degree exam is compulsory for a candidate.
  • Candidates who are willing to a lectureship, there is no upper age limit for them.
  • The maximum age limit of candidates for JRF exam is 28 years. However, relaxation in the upper age limit may be provided as per terms and conditions of the Government of India.
